I’ve got a pass from my good lady wife!!

It’s not 30°C EWS Finale but it’ll do!

Unfortunately bit out of shape ( even more so than normal)

Very much looking forward to some good trails, big loop and hopefully doing better than my last trip there for the may champs

    Anyone else going?

Is it just the Grizedale stuff or are they doing some Graythwaite as well?

Not racing this time, but should be a cracker (though slippy 😆 )

We will be travelling up on Friday night. You are right about the Finale temps, will need to go in the loft tonight and dig out the winter quilt. Race notes look like its all on the Grizedale site.
Bit of bike fettling to do before we set off.

Yup, my first ever enduro race – no idea what trails they use, no idea how it all works – no idea in general -although thankfully I’ve just fitted one of those mudhugger front mudguard things

Fresh cut trails all nice and steep, muddy with white slippy roots.

Last minute decision for me – entered this afternoon. I’ve done some of their other events and I’m expecting the same chilled out, grassroots atmosphere.

Haven’t ridden Grizedale for years n years though so I’m looking forward to it.

And it’s the Lakes; of course it’ll be wet..

Rode Grizedale Parkamoor last night. It rained for the whole ride. We stuck to rocky tracks and didn’t do any of the cheeky PMBA bits as they are muddy slippery root fests at the best of times. We went through puddles nearly as deep as the top of your wheels.

I think PMBA normally don’t tell you until the day before or sign-on for practice.

even with the rain the viking wasn’t to bad last night, need to keep out of that deep rut near the bottom of the steep bit though.

lowey, from what i’ve heard the only stage on coniston side is the viking/bomb holes then down to the lake.

Viking isn’t usually bad in the wet as it’s mostly stone underneath. That rut before the corner has always been deep, even the bank to the left is getting worn now!

So no Supersteep or Supanoodle? The rest of the stages on the opposite side, Rowley wood etc?

that rut certainly looked deeper than last time i rode it but that was a while ago.
no, niether of those two you mention and the latest post on facebook mentions sharing the transistion to stage 1 and 2 with the go ape vans so yes rowley wood and probably the newish one with the deer gates opposite the way in to rowley wood.

Tough ride in the constant drizzle/rain, but brilliant stages, apart from 6 being so claggy impossible to get my mojo on

Heading down tomorrow and attempting to race it blind on a hardtail. What could possibly go wrong! 😆

Well the rain has stopped and its a star lit night. Not seen or heard any of the night rally cars. Saw the guy in the carpark earlier who was setting up a giant telescope thingy which looked quite good.

Is that what it is then. Looks good as did the two mk 1 Escorts that have just come past.

Brilliant race, all stages were superb, S5 a bit short, S6 was a brutal slog, campsite field being flooded meant I was homeless, but crashed superfi’s birthday lakes tour & slept on his sofa!.
So was very tired race day, managed to get round, tough route all went ok considering, but I crashed hard on stage 2 and lost my mojo.

Totally agree – all the stages were great fun and I somehow managed to haul myself to 4th place in the hardtail cat with no practice. Pretty chuffed with that

that is a great picture. Much better than a just riding through dirt picture as it shows you are pushing yourself and you’re doing an activity that you clearly enjoy. I’d have that on my wall so I can see what sort stuff I got up when I was young.
Also, I didn’t realise the Predator could cycle. 😉

    yes

arse, hip and toe, only the toe is still sore now

id ridden that fine in practice the day b4, just got a bit squirrely and yanked on the brakes, huge mistake as it was very slick & the bike just vanished from undereath me

if thats where i think it is don’t think there’ll be any pics of me in that bit as i launched through it on the wrong line with to much speed and sent the camera man running out of my way completly screwing up my entry into the next corner, annoyingly the high entry line i used in practice worked perfectly.
