    Hello,

What sealant to use on a thread into a towel rail? The heating element in ours needs replacing, and looking at the existing one, the plumber used a fibrous looking substance to seal the thread.

As I have just used PTFE thread on water pipes in the past, what could this be, and should I be using it instead?

I find Loctite 55 best for the job.
