I have issues with my waterworks again.
My mate who is a plumber eventually came round yesterday (whilst I was at work) to fix our shower - the water pressure/on-off dial had become so stiff that my teenage daughters couldn't turn it off properly, and even when I turned it off fully the shower head still dripped constantly. On top of that that the hose had split so water gushed out of it and made the pressure coming out of the head rather feeble. The shower is about 6 years old.
So I got home last night, very sweaty after a boxing circuit training session (no, not 'boxercise'
) and went to have a shower. I noticed before I got in that he'd fitted a new hose and then that the pressure dial was not quite as stiff when I turned it on, so those problems had been sorted, nice one.
BUT (and it is a massive but) the temperature control was now completely useless, no matter how I turned it the water temp varied (if at all) from scorching hot to '**** me, that really is bloody hot'. I also noticed that the temperature dial was now upside down.
So in essence the shower is now un-usable
My mother-in-law who had been in the house whilst he was here said he told her he'd phone me, which he hasn't done yet.
Thankfully we have another shower in the house so its not a complete disaster, but this morning with four of us getting ready for the day it was a pain in the arse!
So why am I posting this? I'm not really sure now, bit of a crap rant really...I suppose I'm wanting to know if it's just a simple case of re-fitting the control unit properly and job's a goodun, whether I just need new parts (a new cartridge, from a quick look on the net?) or, as my mate intimated to the M-I-L, a whole new shower unit which would involve re-tiling etc.
Bloody hell, I have gone on, apologies. I expect a few INRATS comments...
