I fancy giving it a crack over Christmas, Is this wise?

    I’m running 32/18.

It’ll be fine. Though, obviously better with gears 😉 And probably more fun with bounce. I broke a chainring midway through so did the rest of the loop with a lowest usable gear of something like 36/30, no real bother even though that’s not really my thing so a proper singlespeeder should be fine.

Why not!! Personally gears and suspension but if your one of those already you might enjoy it 🙂

Wise? No. Do-able? Yes. Why would you want to? Mental.

I did it. No problem at all, and I’m not very good.

It’s one of the more swoopy/smooth centres – I remember Afan on the same bike was a lot more shaky.

I did it on my Kona a few years ago which is also ridid.

But I did have the luxury of gears, what killed me was having V’s by the last couple of descends my arms were shot and I had to walk down them.

This time, I’lll have lovely disc brakes but no gears.

I’ve done it on a 32 16 but with a suspended fork. No major problems

I can’t see the climbs being a problem but sections of loop 2 definitely benefit from a little front forkage. Be sure to ride light!

in terms of gears you should be fine, last sections may be uncomfortable. As a gear loving wuss, I would solute you. 😀

Sounds perfect to me! The slightly trials-y rocky bits at the top will be easier without the bounce. Stay loose on the descents and you’ll be fine 🙂

    ?

It’ll be fine on a rigid SS. Of all the places I can think of Penmachno is probably best suited for the lack of suspension.

It’s good fun on a rigid ss.
No big climbs and not too rocky.
