Afternoon all. One of my bikes has some PD-M970 pedals (previous model XTR race SPDs) and although functionally there is nothing wrong with them they’ve seen some action and I’m looking at replacements. The 970s were an upgrade from some 770s and at the time they felt quite a bit better than the 770s – smoother, stiffer and just generally better

Another one of my bikes has some recent M785 XT trail SPDs, and I like them a lot.

My question is are M975s noticeably better than M785s or am I looking at a £40 premium simply to save 8g or thereabouts?

Or would some M980s be better still?

I’d say stick with the XT Trail. No real benefit in terms of function by going to XTR Trail, but the big advantage over the cheaper one (not sure of model number) is that they crack open with a 17mm spanner rather than that special tool thing.
