  • PC Tune Up software – does it help?

I’ve got AVG antivirus and it kindly offered me a free “checkup” of my PC with its tune up software (which I can then subscribe to).

That checkup said it found thousands of problems in the registry and elsewhere – is this serious?? Or just a marketing trick to get me to buy the subscription?

My laptop is 4 years old and has got a bit slow, will a “tune up” make it faster…?

Unlikely. Assuming you’re running a recent version of Windows often the best “tune up” you can make is to get rid of third party AV and use the Windows built-in stuff. Somebody will probably be along shortly to explain how to reinstall the OS which will probably make it run better.
