    If you use the gift option in paypal does this effect the charges.

    There *are* charges if your PayPal account isn’t linked to a bank account IIRC.

    No protection for the sender if you send money as a gift.

    Yeah, I’m very suspicious when people say “paypal gift only” it can mean “I don’t want to pay the charges” but it can also mean “I’m planning to rip you off”.

    i only do gift to people whom i have either met … or know i could meet … ie people that do races etc …..

    I’m not sure you’re right about no payer protection actually.

    Fwiw, i won’t take paypal except as a gift and happily use it as a method to pay on here

    by paying as gift you forfeit all protection … thats why there are no fees ….
