It’s nowhere near as good as chips, is it?

Hmmm, this depends on application. A pasta sandwich would be rubbish, lasagne wouldn’t work at all with chips.

You need to fry it and cover with salt, vinegar and ketchup

A Lancashire Hot-Pot is basically potato lasagne.

And the Italians nicked the idea for pasta from an Irish bloke called Mark who worked in a Chinese Chippy in Liverpool, everyone knows that.

I’m with Binners on this one. Chips win every time. Pasta, not unlike rice, tastes like food you would give to your least favourite prisoner if you ran a POW camp from a Rambo movie. You have to add so many other things to pasta just to make it not taste like, well, pasta.

Lasagne works perfectly well with chips.

Lasagne wouldn’t work at all using chips.

    (Actually, thinking about it…)

I’m surprised you get Pasta up there.

Stick with Chips, we can then distinguish you lot from us lot.

    There’s a lad.

I just expect better from the nation that gave us pizza

    Now pizza and chips…… there’s a combination

Interesting pizza/pasta fact- tomatoes were only introduced into Italy in the 16th century, before that it was all baked dormice and ting.

How small exactly is that Waitrose Mini Spag Bol then? Bite size? Like a fun sized mars bar?

It’s still never going to be as good as a chip butty, is it?

I agree, but small and tasty beats large and greasy.

Love pasta, probably more than chips. In fact, I probably like rice more than chips.

Nothing beats that apart from free.

A frozen pasta meal gets a “Yum”? And you’re trying to display superior taste?

The chips are winning this one so far.

Didn’t they also introduce garlic-flavoured tiling grout to the world? Not even pizza can earn them redemption for that

I don’t have “superior” taste, simply pointing out quality vs quantity.

    Think about that.

binners, this pasta you’re talking about, it came out of a yellow and red tin didn’t it?

Tomorrow: binners goes all Ramsbottom masterchef and tries tinned ravioli. 😀

Can I have mine with cheesy chips?

I had lasagne and chips the other night – it’s my go-to dirty meal when Mrs Bravissimo is out for the evening. Really salty chips.

Pah, Poutine is where it’s at now man. Cheese, chips, bacon and mushrooms, but I do reside in the ‘Mystic East’.

Hmmm this has me thinking, i might try chip carbonara. Chips, cheese, egg and bacon there is literally nothing that could go wrong with that

    binners

But cheesy chips are a marriage of the two finest foodstuffs known to man. Introduce bacon to that and it’s getting potentially dangerous. You could be looking at a potential physical dependency

You can keep your mushrooms though 😉

    Pasta is my addiction.

Hot. Cold. Sauced. Bare. I don’t care. I always cook too much and always have to finish it off.

Pasta with marmite for a quick meal…

Pasta with marmite for a quick meal…

    What is wrong with you?

Don’t they have crumpets and melty cheese where you’re from?

    dangeourbrain

Would a [number of] chip butty made with crumpets instead of white bread work, or is it too much goodness and doomed to fail?

    binners

You should never deviate from the one true path with the chip butty…

But the cheesy chip crumpet is an interesting idea that needs investigation

It’s bound to be miles better than pasta
