  • Parts swap. Crank spindle too short?

    Swapped deore cranks onto new bike, spindle too short. It’s quite an old crankset but in any case does a new BB or even a new crankset need purchased?

    If the new frame is 73mm wide instead of 68mm you only need to add one spacer to the driveside cup (instead of the 2 drive, 1 non-drive you had before).

    Is it a DH bike with a 83mm BB shell?

    It’s a 2017 Marin Nail Trail 9 and I can’t find the spec anywhere that tells me the current BB spec so I am a bit confused

    Tinypic isn’t working…. I’ll probably just take it down the LBS. Things with spacers confuse me.

    Measure the width of the BB shell on each bike (don’t include any spacers in the measurement).

    A ruler will be plenty accurate:
