The second time (different part of the street) we just got an unpleasant note under the windscreen wipers...
I never, ever read notes left on my windscreen (I would if my car was damaged, mind....)
I just screw them up.

Why have people suddenly lost the ability to reverse onto their drive, as ipposed to reversing out onto busy roads accross the pavements, its a lot easier in the morning to get out.
Try living in London when sometimes you can't park in the same street, let alone outside
Or Manchester. Car parked on the nearest available street overnight. Next day the interior is soaking after someone had slashed a 2 foot hole in the roof. £2,500 that cost me....

I once left a note on someones car saying 'you have a really nice car-if you ever decide to sell...'
That was on a 2.6 Audi Coupe. Funnily on Sat a lad got out of a Audi Coupe in Sainsburys carpark and as I passed him I said 'nice car'.
Projest, rule 201 of the highway code states
201 Do not reverse from a side road into a main road. When using a driveway, reverse in and drive out if you can.

I left a note on someone's windscreen t'other week as their off side rear tyre was flat and hidden by the kerb, and i knew he wouldn't see it when he left early the next morning. Sometimes people are being helpful.
....But it seems more often than not that they are not being helpful. It's never done me any harm, like deleting spam emails....
Pook, Ive done that before- sidewall had an almost perfectly egg-sized bulge in it. I used to walk my dog passed the car every evening. 4 weeks later and it was STILL there.
I once returned to my car to find a farmer had kindly written "do not park here" all over every panel of my (white) car in indellible black marker. I was parked up one of his tracks, off the trail and onto some grass slightly - not in his way at all and miles off the beaten track, not damaging anything. He never gave me the chance to explain that I was actually climbing the hill searching for 4 lost schoolkids as the light started to grow dim and this was the nearest place to park for about 2 miles. It was very nice of him. He hovered in the distance waiting for me to go mental, fortunately I was carrying meths and some tissue and the pen came right off. There's always one.
I got a yellow note left on the van last year, off the Police while parked in a forest car park, saying
THIS IS NOT A PARKING TICKET,
Thieves are operating in this area, and the police are aware that cars have been broken into, etc etc.
The two Ford focus cars next to me also got a similar ticket, and they also had their side windows smashed and the radios nicked, they where really pleased to see the police knew thieves where operating in the area.

surely better to check though eh? That one time in 10 could save your life.
Imagine a note that said "Hi, I think I saw someone cutting your brake hoses last night - best check before you get going...."
paranoid? me? no.
by taxing and insuring a vehicle you can park it on the public highway, legal restrictions permitting - a few cones pinched from some road works don't mean pish, if I'm feeling generous I'll move them, if not they'll just get driven over, especially in some of the wrecks I've owned or work trucks
last place I lived, everyone parked on the waste ground over the road, until it was built on = parking shortage. All the new places had two spaces and most of the owners no cars, so a quick ask around turned up half a dozen spaces I could use, lovely
