Been quoted £25 to get a frame dipped to remove all the paint. Just wondering if doing it myself with Nitromors or the like is easy enough to save a few quid or whether £25 is worth it to avoid the faff and mess.

    Giz a clue?

be careful getting it dipped if it’s aluminium it may take some of the metal with it.

I’d spend the £25, horrid messy job that’ll probably cost you £20 in nitromors…

Blowtorch + wire brush – so much easier than Nitromors.

£25 sounds like a fair price to me for a shitty job.

unless you like that kind of thing.

Also depends on the Nitromors if it’s the new green coloured gel it’s not going to touch stove enameling.

Old style burn your skin off Nitromors will take it off nice and easy though, takes while to get into all the nooks and crannies though.

Steel frame, so no worries being dipped.

It was the nooks and crannies around cable guides and the like that I wasn’t looking forward to. I’ll pay a man to dip it then.

    £25 for dip
    £25 for powder coat
    £25 for new decals
All adding up – at least the frame was a good price in the first place.

Price is reasonable if you think about what would be involved doing it yourself.

Nitromores is expensive and then you will spend several hours removing the paint to save about £5.
