Against my better judgement Im selling some stuff on Ebay
One of my auctions has just ended
I have just been out for an hour and seen the highest bidder contacted me 20 mins before the auction ended to say he's skint and can he withdraw his bid
He has been highest bidder for 2 days, the auction is at 80 quid, the next bid down is 79 quid
Its not about the money but what are my options here?
Im fairly new to this and dont want to get stung for fees if the next highest bidder backs out

Second chance offer to the second place guy. It's in the "My Ebay" section under items you've sold. Oh, and Neg feedback to the guy who won.
I didnt think I could neg him as Im the seller
And can he still leave me feedback even if he doesnt pay?
You can't neg feedback him, but report him as a non-paying bidder, people like that really yank my chain..morons
Great news hes just emailed me to ask me to cancel the transaction
Its prob a coincidence I have just opened a dispute with ebay in the last 10 mins
Funny how he ignored all of my emails up to now
Anyway he wants me to cancel the transaction and close the dispute
If I do then ebay still charge me

the guy on second chance will think you shilled him. He bid up to 79, but if the withdrawing bidder hadn't bid, the sale price would have been much lower. I rarely pick up second chance offers for just that reason
Is a non paying strike that much of a big deal?
Im hacked off I cant leave him negative feedback TBH
Whats really annoying me is that he has emailed me to ask me to cancel the transaction which would leave me liable for all the ebay fees now he has backed out

Take him to the small claims court. Tell him you will be.
You can request your fees back from Ebay if you report him as a non paying bidder.
Yep, press on with the non-paying bidder stuff and you'll get your fees back. And possibly make him check whether he can afford it *before* bidding next time.
One NPB strike against him won't mean a lot, but will if he does it a few more times.
Yes, it'll take something like 14 days if he doesn't reply to the non-paying complaint but you'll get fees etc. back.
You can try using second chance but like others above I rarely take it up as a buyer it as often sounds like dodgy bidding practices. Maybe worth a shot though, you'll onyl lose a pund.
I bought my roadbike through a 2nd chance offer,
Contacted the seller after looing by about £20 in the last few minutes (I was actualy about 3 bidders down in the end) offering £350 (winning bid was £360 ish) if the buyer messed arround. 24 hours later he was on my doorstep with the bike and only wanted £300 for it!

After the worst week Ive had for some time I need some good news
My relisted auction ended tonight
My original buyer contacted me after I closed the dispute earlier in the week to say hed been in hospital
I wished him all the best and offered to close the relsited auction so he could settle his original bid
Funnily enough he didnt reply
I hope his non paying strike causes him some aggro
But better than that I have just made £4 over what he bid with the relist
