Before I do a search for a demo on a Orange Alpine 160
I am reading where people whom normally ride an 18′ Orange 5 (like myself)
are turning to the 16inch Alpine 160.

    Can you guys confirm.
    I am 5ft10 and a size 32” inside leg.

    Cheers for this.

I test rode an 18″ Alpine and it felt huge , I’m 5′ 9″ 30″ leg so different geometry 😀 then tried a 16″ felt much better to me, if you can try one first I would 🙂

I am a 5 ft 8, ride an 18 inch Orange 5 and went for the 16 inch Alpine. The 18 was massive!

    I’d try a specialized/lapierre/cube/giant/morewood/transition/nukeproof/anything else

I’m 5’11” with about 32″ inside leg – I’ve just been riding a mates 16″ and it was far too small for an all-rounder. I think Orange have just started making a 17″, which would be ideal.

I’m just under 5ft 9in and I’ve had very short go on both and preferred the 18in. Definitely one to try before you buy!

Bikeactive have an absloutely beautiful new 16in demo one in, by the way.

On the measurements a 160 is shorter than a Five size for size (I think).

I’m 5’11” to 6″ depending on whether my darling sons are sleeping through or not, with a 32″ leg and I went from an 18″ Five (90mm stem) to an 18″ 160 (60mm or 75mm stem). I prefer the fit of the 160 which does feel slightly longer in the frame.

If it helps, I also ride an 18″ 456 (75mm or 90mm – 90 better), a large Pegasus (70mm stem) and a medium PlanetX Pro Carbon (110mm) the last of which is a tad small. The Pegasus and 160 are the best fits for me.

edit – where you based Grantway?

vvv edit 2 – Reverbs r goood vvv

I’m 5 11″ and ride a 18″ 2011 alpine with a 50mm stem and 750mm wide bars. Defo wouldn’t want the 16″ unless it was for purely downhill.

Easily enough room between my legs with saddle down (use a reverb which makes it easy).

My 17.5″ cotic soul feels looooong in comparison even with a 60mm stem.

Found this vid on my phone – Prob won’t help but these steps are pretty tight and steep (video would lead you to believe otherwise) and you really need to get back on the bike.

5’10 32″ inside leg and 16″ is perfect for me. But I like 22.5″ top tube bikes- 16 alpine is same length as medium / 17″ Santa Cruz.

5’11” and had an 18″. The 16″ was too small/short.

Demoed both 16 and 18 and was happy with neither.

The 18 was great as an all day bike, really comfortable to climb on, but was too long to deal with real steep tight DH stuff.

The 16 was awesome DH, but too cramped to be comfortable uphill.

6ft here and 18 is perfect for me with a layback and 60mm stem.

Depends on what you intent to use the bike for?

    More down than up… 16″.

    Equal down and up… 18″

Neon Orange and the Silver look cool kinda bored of the Apple Green
as thats what my 5 is in for over a year now and see to many now that
    colour.
You have a closer pic of the Silver One.

I’ve just ridden a few friends’ Alpines briefly Grantway.

The new Bikeactive demo is raw with a metallic pink glitter – stunning!

    5’11” / 32″ leg here.

18″ Alpine, used for Alpine guiding (distinctly more down than up!).

With short stem and wide bars, length feels spot-on. A smidge less wheelbase might be nice in the switchbacks, but no probs getting it round.
