I’m finding the front end of my 5 to high and I’m struggling to turn it as easy as I would like in sharp corners.

I was thinking of sticking a 26 inch wheel on the front and was wondering what it would do to the handling etc.

It’s clear from my few rides on the bike that Orange clearly don’t know how to design a frame.

    Cheers.

I’d guess probably not good things, as wouldn’t that steepen the head angle rather a lot?

What about eg. Syntace Flatforce stem and Niner Lowtop bar as an (expensive) way of lowering the front?

How about if I let most of the air out of the fork so it uses half as sag.

With a 26 inch front wheel it will be nice and rad and rail the corners and with the 29 inch rear wheel it will roll over stuff better.

    What do you think.

Perhaps you’re on the wrong size frame…?

mount your stem between the fork crown and the lower headset race is what I would recommend in this instance.

You need one of the new low profile tyres but they are designed around the 30mm + wider rims so you may need a new rim and wheel build. The cheap alternative is to let most of the air out of the tyre as that will lower it at the bottom and not alter the suspension setup.

Assuming you are asking your ‘normal’ type questions:

    Flat bar.

    Flip the stem.

    Taller profile rear tyre.

Get the sag right (both ends).

    Get some coaching?

I think it’s not the front being to high, it’s you being to low, try standing on a chair or it that fails dig a hole and put the bike inside it so the bars are resting on the ground

What about if I set the rear shock up so it has no sag like my old nrs shock.

Orange really should of designed this bike to run 26 inch wheels.

ring ring … ring ring …

    “Hi, is that Gary?”
    >PAUSE< (this is an international call)
    “Yes, it is”
    “Gary Fisher?”
    “Yes. Why?! Who is this?”
“Hi Gary, oh great. I just wanted to say that, I don’t think this whole bike design thing you pioneered works.”
“Oh. Really. And why is that?”
“Well, y’know. I’ve been riding a while now and, well, I just can’t seem to get any of my bikes to really work for me, so I can only assume it’s, well, the bikes”
“Ah. I see. So, I assume you actually rode these bikes before you bought them, or [chuckles] at least SAT on them…?!”

    >CLICK< brrrrrrrrr…..

Nah everyone was wrong on that thread. Everyone knows at 6 foot you should be on a kids bike for chuckability.

Maybe you’re just going twice as fast, but haven’t realised it yet.

You are correct, Orange don’t know how to design frames……

That’s why they have been in business for a LOT of years & sold a LOT of bikes & frames.

Fancy swapping it for my HT frame?

(+ cash my way as you’ve already admitted it’s pish)

What’s wrong with a bit of harmless banter. It’s been done to me on numerous occasions even by the person in question himself.

Get two six inch pieces of 3×2, screw your cleats to the bottom of each one and gaffer tape the to the bottom of your shoes, then raise your saddle about three inches and there you go.. A low front end….

Its a big bike with a long wheelbase. It’ll always feel better on flat out and steep stuff than narrow, tight and twisty so don’t automatically assume that it’s just the bar height.

Looking at the picture you’ve posted you’ve already got flat bars so a lower stack stem right down on to the headset will only save a bit.

If they really knew how to design frames, surely they wouldn’t need to keep redesigning them every 5 minutes?

Best thread in a long while.

I spotted it as a troll straight off the bat.

The thing is, Renton is poking fun at himself, and others on here. Proper STW spirit.

Far better to troll yourself than to troll about someone else’s beliefs.
