Can someone recommend me a program to download so I can open and read gpx files on my pc running windows 7 please.

Notepad? does that work?

You can open them to view on a map with google earth.

or do you want to edit them?

Gpx is just a text file with a series of latitude, longitude and times in.

If you want to visualise the track then you’ll need something else.

When I open notepad its not showing when I try and open a file?

Because it’s looking for .txt files. Change the file filter or just drag and drop the file onto notepad,

Notepad will just let you read the numbers. If you want to view it then Google earth or a site like this http://www.maplorer.com/view_gpx.html

Do you want to view the actual GPX file data or see what it looks like superimposed on a map?

If it’s the data right click & open with Notepad/Wordpad.

If it’s to view the route GPX files can be opened in Google maps.
