My two girls are getting to the curious stage where they know how to google stuff and I caught one of them and her wee pal searching for sexy bums a few days ago.
The ipad stays in the same room as us, but even so, they can clearly land on some very dodgy sites within a few clicks.
We’re on Plusnet, and they have a parental control in conjunction with macafee. A quick google recommends Net Nanny as the one to get.

My experience with stuff like macafee and norton in the PC past was dire, slowing everything down.

    Any recommendations?

Lots of stuff I was told not do as a kid, I did anyway and was a master at not getting caught. I worry they may have inherited my ninja stealth brat skills.

Would you be disappointed if your children grew up to be like you?

No, I wouldnt. But I’m asking the original question simply because I think six years old is too young for my child to watch video footage of a girl choking on a hiuge cock being rammed down her throat, along with the other joys one can find on the internet if access is uncontrolled. 🙄

It can’t be controlled. It’s the world. Accept that.
Best you can do is mitigate it by talking to them and giving them a framework for reference.
Not an easy thing to do.

    Have you considered OpenDNS?

    https://www.opendns.com/

By changing your DNS servers to theirs you get fantastic control over content. And it’s free, FWIW.

I’d recommend opendns. It’s easy to set up, it’s free and works very well IME.

Edit: Beaten to it by the post above.

We talk to them about it, and lay down law about what.
    Open DNS
    Computers/phones/wahatever in public rooms.
Router shut down at 11, not on until 7am.
    No TV’s in their rooms.
    I have all their passwords.
    We limit screen time.
I accept they will do it at somepoint.

Sadly, we have a friend who has a 13 year old addicted to porn already.
It is a scary online world out there.

OpenDNS here as well. Some routers have it built in now which makes it easier if you don’t have a fixed IP address.

The rest of that sentence is redundant.
