  • One for techie car bods – Diodes for alternators – Where to get them?

OK – Basically I think my alternator has gone kaput. Its £££ for a new one ( About £600 minimum ) and me being a tight arse thinks that I can do it for less.

I have sourced a voltage regulator for it, but am struggling to find a source for the diodes.

I've been told I need Bosch style 1/2" press fit 50A diodes.

Anyone know where to get them in the UK?

The alternator is a water cooled effort … this one:

    LR 4.4 V8 Alternator

    any help

These people can remanufacture (repair/rebuild) stuff and might be able to supply what you need:

    Somewhere like Wigan Alternators:
    Wigan Alternators
    Hodson Street,
    Wigan,
    Lancashire
    WN3 4EN
    01942 231 006?

Never let me down, they'll also recon your alt if you want them to. I've ordered individual diode packs, brushes etc from them for buttons.
