Sorry to hear that. As above, 18 years is a good innings. Nothing worse than losing your best friend ever.

still miss our old dog chip and he's been gone 17 months 😥

You never stop missing them but it does get easier. As times passes, you tend to remember more of the happier times without things welling up quite so much. I'll never forget the real Onza dog who I lost 5 years ago. (5 years? seems like yesterday)

Our Bingo eats a strict diet with lots of veg etc, is very lean (almost zero stomach) and well muscled compared to almost every Westie I've ever seen.

A real character to boot. I dread the day hes no longer with us. 🙁

If it's right that Bert has left us then my condolences to Matt, I know he will take it hard.

He was a great little dog a real little character.

Dogs are great bring so much, it's awful when their time comes though. Only 6 months since I lost my Lab she was a real softie. For the first time in 37 years I have a home with no dog, it's very odd.

We lost our two jack russels down a sandy rabbit warren.

How they would have wanted to go I suppose……

You bastids have made me go and cry now. Dread the day one of our two go to the eternal rabbit chase in the sky 😥

Bert looked like a right character judging by that photo.

Thoughts with you Matt, remember the good times.

Three very good friends of mine have been Jack Russels. They can be complete nutters, and occassional gross liabilities, but they are very good company. Bless!

    Hello

Cheers all- Thanks for the kind words. Bert was super old and was incontinent (well couldn't differentiate between outside and inside anyway) had been repeatedly falling down the stairs at home-and generally not very comfortable mentally (he kept "loosing" me while I was in the same room) He was physically pretty good when he went, to the point he was eaing biscuits at the vets `and it was very quick -I would like that option for myself.

So i'm sad but relieved really if I was Honest as well.

He was a handsome little f**ker as well ;]

    cheers

    Matt

Your right Simon in the scheme of things it doesn't matter terribly, except to the indvidual – If people choose to be sympathetic because they do this human thing called empathising with other peoples feelings…. Well **** you. (That's another one of the emotions on display there as well. Guess which one)

I'm not a dog man, but when my cats go I'll be heartbroken – So can only imagine what you're feeling 🙁
