Nothwithstanding the ‘On One Haters Will Hate’ bunch, has anyone had a Lurcher? How do you rate them as a XC bike for a rider of about 14 stone?

There are a few XL ones left and at £400 seem worth a punt.

Have you also considered the planet x dirty harry?

Yes. A mate had a DH, well he tried to. There were all sorts of manufacturing issues and he rejected three frames in the end (cracking, badly aligned stays and what is best described as a wonky headset). OO gave him his money back in the end.

The Lurchers it seems, are not plagued by these problems.

He loved the way the frame rode, just not the product itself.

Oh….and there aren’t any DHs around anyway!

I have had one for a couple of years and love it. It’s essentially the same geometry as their other 29ers which I already liked, but it’s considerably lighter. I run my singlespeed/fully rigid so it doesn’t weigh much at all, although I’ve not tried to make it a weight weeny build.

The one bad thing is the fact that it’s a press fit BB, which just don’t seem to last as long as conventional ones and start creaking a long time before they stop working.

For £400 they’re a good frame, but if you can wait and catch them when they’re on offer for £299 then they’re a really good frame 😉
