Right, my colleague now likes the look of On-One frames. He is after XC being an ex-roadie, so I think the long top tube will suit. Am I right in thinking the Inbred is the most XC? I know there’s the Scandal which is nice and light but it’s £100 more and cost is a factor.

Inbred and Slot Dropout and 26in Scandal are all the same “XC” geometry.

Though I have no idea what you mean by XC.

Racing round a field for two hours = XC
Riding at trail centres = XC
Riding round field edge bridleways for a couple of hours = XC
Riding over mountains in the Lakes = XC

Quite a wide range of activities…

Sorry, could someone please explain countryside?

Don’t we all ride on the footpath and do dropoffs from the kerb to the road? 😀

Why do people always get so het up over this – its just a shorthand. You all know perfectly well what he meant by it

XC means not Freeride, not DH, not 4x, not dirt jump and no aspirations to be any of those things either. It means riding in a loop around a trail and enjoying the ups and downs, rather than trying to challenge yourself on very steep/gnarly descents.

    AKA general biking.

Should have been “Though I have no idea what you mean by XC.”

In terms of frames tho, an XC frame could well be 1-2lbs lighter than a ‘freeride HT’ frame, which is what the 456 is billed as. And as it doesn’t list frame weights anywhere I thought I’d ask.

Oh yeah.. thanks. And possibly ‘Trail’. And if you speak Kona, how about Out-of-Bounds.
