Nothing lasts forever I guess and my late 2009 MacBook has finally died. I’m wondering if it might be the battery as for the last few weeks it worked fine when plugged in but when you ran it off he battery after a few minutes it would just completely shut down, and now it doesn’t start at all wether plugged in or not. Could this be a symptom of a failed battery?

Try taking the battery out. It should run without it – I think. The older models taking battery out was fairly easy I recall – check iFixIt ..

Will do. I’ve had the bottom of before when I put more ram in so it does come off easy. Was just wondering if it is a classic symptom.

Batteries don’t last forever & at least in these old MacBooks, it’s a 2 minute job to replace.
My late 08 is still going strong with a new battery, 8Gb of ram & an ssd.

The older mac book in which you can change the battery and HDD are great. Why the hell Apple changed them to the sealed throw away units of now……(well to save weight)
