  • Old iPod Touch problems – incompatible with iTunes…

Hope someone might have a workaround for me – I have an old iPod Touch (1st Gen) and it has been happily working as a music server for the car. Having swapped things around, I wanted to give it to my wife to use in her car so I wanted to put her music on. However, I plugged it into iTunes (current version) and it wouldn’t recognise the device. A bit of Googling suggested I should put the iPod into Recovery mode and re-install which I tried to do, unfortunately (with more Googling) it seems that the only way to get it started up in recovery mode is by using an older version of iTunes itself, installing iOS 3 then I should be able to sync it with the current iTunes.

However I don’t have access to a computer with anything other than the current iTunes!

Any ideas on how I can work around this?
