I pulled a bike out of a skip ages ago(i asked!).
I though i’d rip it apart, paint it and put it back together.

Before i do i need to replace a few parts. I want to price these up to make sure it isn’t a waste of money.

I need a bottom bracket, its shot!
I cant seem to find anything. I’m hoping one of you may point me in the right direction.

    It looks like this:

All it has on it is “1630” but this isn’t the width, that comes up as 137mm.

The bikes an old BSA Bermuda if it helps.

    Cheers 😀

    Ah cool!
I never thought they’d be the same!
That not going to break the budget! It may be worth doing after all!

i’m with poster above unless enthusiatically retro go to a square taper – though i guess adds in cranks and chainset – getting rid of cotter pins was a huge advance in reliability – they are the pits

Well i’m hoping to spend as little as possible.
That’s partly why i’m pricing up parts before i dive in both feet!
I don’t think it really worth anything so more of a tinker project really.
I’d rather keep the chainring i have. It’d be nice to lose the pins but then i wouldn’t be able to use the current ring. It has BSA in the metal of the ring, which i think is rather cool!

fair enough, cotter pins just bring back the nightmares of my youth and hammering away trying to get the buggers off and continual creak, creak, creak, creak as you pedalled along. Should keep an eye on fleabay as some very nice square taper cranks go for silly money and £10 for those bb.

The pins and the one cups of the bottom bracket took some getting off!
Hopefully this will be a nice bimble to the pub bike.
If all goes well i may try it again with fancy bits!

that’s a very brave garden picture… the pebbles do add a seaside touch to it though.

I’ve been around here long enough to know better than to show that pic of my garden!
Its very much a work in progress. It took a lot of work to get to that point!
Some weed killer, a membrane then 4-5 tonne of gravel and we’re rolling for the summer!

    It started there

    Went there

    Nearly done

Figured i’d better get my defence in quick!!
