Any ride impressions yet? Especially in terms of how the sizing is. Still undecided to go for S or M at 5'9"
I really like to yellow one in the first post.

To Mamadirt Mmmbop stripped and at the mo bottom bracket installed then hit the first snag .
the 1.5 inch reducer headset dont fit so spent the last 2 hours machining a top and bottom cup for the frame ( gone over the SO allowed budget so need to use as much as poss from the old bike .
and damn this constant changing stuff need a conversion for the rear hope hub , and a new front mech before I will be able to get the first ride .
Mr Blobby Yes Revs will do my best to get it done soon .
walleater I must have missed the wankfest but stumbled on the thread at the time I was considering going back to FS after 4 years on a hard tail and heard lots of good things about them so jumped on the bandwagon its got to be better than my last fs bike a marin rocksprings .
Matius
I am 5.9 and gone for the medium so fingers crossed
homemade headset installed

funny the raw anodised makes the welds look like putty
Trout,
What headset you got? I got a Nukeproof one on order and would be seriously p**sed if I need to take a machine to one that's purpose built....
I was planning on using the Hope 1.5 inch reducer headset from the Mmmbop but did not realise the difference in internal dia of the head tubes .
was going to order the nuke proof one but am an impatient tight git so copied the cups on the lathe from the hope but with 44 mm to fit quite enjoyed making my own even came in lighter than the hopes
If I cant get a maxle conversion today will be attempting my own tonight
Good effort!
That raw silver does look good up close.
Any clearance issues for the fork? Was going to use an internal headset with lyriks.
Is anyone else's rear bolt thru axle a bit stiff to twist as soon as it engages the threads on the dropout? It seems as if it doesn't quite line up right?
no clearance issues I can see for the forks. I was going to do the headset internal. but then read for 150 mm forksit needed to be an externalheadset
Yes my axel is a tight fit in the threads too
a brand name brought back from the dead
Yeah I remember the original Nukeproof kit in the early 90's, don't really like the way they've recycled an old brand name and logo to make it seem more established, what next, return of x-lite bar ends in purple?
Is anyone using 140mm travel forks?
I have a set of pike 454 airs, really don't want to change forks as I really like the pikes.
The raw looks much better in the picture above than other photos I've seen!
Dave.
funny the raw anodised makes the welds look likeputtyshite...
FIFY...
Trout...your version of 'home made' is a bit different to mine
.Mine usually involves cup cakes, out of a packet.
what next, return of x-lite bar ends in purple?
Bodgetastic just to report that it is perfectly possible to drill out the axel and ends of a hope pro 2 hub. to make it take a 12 mm maxle .
First ride so strapped the go pro on to see if it bobbed
1 in 4 ish gradient and I am not the smoothest on the pedals
Thanks trout, didn't seem to bob much, how'd it feel?
trout, i feel bad now as i mentioned my lbs twelve50 bikes had them in stock and should have said they were doing a free Nukeproof headset with every frame! sorry!
Mccett
Thanks no worries I did mail them and they have still got a couple in stock if any one else is interested.
I got mine from JEJames as it was nearer to collect and I am pretty impatient when I want to buy something .
Mr Blobby I am loving it coming from FS to HT and back to FS the comfort is awesome and the hype that it rides up hill is imho true too
you fanboys should check out Wee Lews section in the tweed valley vid Stevenmenmuir posted here yesterday. (you can clearly see it climbs great

ooo, it's the colour of my nan's piss! You won't attract the klunge on that!
Heh, I was gonna get a yellow one, glad I got a black. Photos of my completed build will be up tomorrow.
Welcome to the Mega club!
You look at your Nan's piss??!!
It was an 'Inbetweener's' reference.
Bus w@nker!
Rock Shox hair shocks tend to have too much low speed compression damping anyway so it's not surprising there's little bobbing. Stick a coil shock in it, back off any LSC / pro pedal, go up the same hill in the small ring while pedaling out of the saddle and film what happens
Is there a full suss that wouldn't bob pedalling uphill in the granny ring out of the saddle?
Well I dont know any riders who do Granny ring stand up honking .
Exactly to both points. Now find me a bike sold in 2011 that bobs badly while pedalling sat down in the middle ring (with an air shock or LSC turned up). Even my old 10" travel Session 10 was pretty solid on the climbs as long as you didn't get out of the saddle and rock your weight around.
There are loads of bikes which don't bob at the rear when you honk.
None of them are single-pivots. Expecting one of those to not bob is daft.
But there are advantages to single-pivots - which I'm sure everyone weighs up when they purchase.
Had a quick trip to Glentress today on my mega, climbs brilliantly, feels fast on the way back down. so far so good.
Finished my build during the week. Just taken it for it's first spin.

Can anyone comment on how ready the frame is to build out the box? Will I need to get things like the head tube and BB faced?
Mine built up well with no fuss and no facing
except I had the wrong sized head set so made my own in the rush to get it ridable
Thanks Trout, good to know. Went for the recommended nukeproof headset to avoid any hassle so should be ok with that.
Still enjoying the ride?
Yep just back from a week int lakes
did Helvellyn / gatsgarth nan bield / plus a few others and loving it.
its far too good for my abilities but who cares My old back liked it too
Sounds brilliant. I'll be building it up this weekend then taking it to Morzine for a week the weekend after, so should be able to give it a proper hammering
Didn't you have an mmmbop before the mega? Great for short blasts but not a bike for a bad back!
Yes swopped all the running gear from my MMbop for the Mega still have mrs T`s MMbop to ride if the desire for a HT blast ever returns.
Wifes given up riding so I guess I am now a 2 bike person
The STW Mega owners club is not huge so look forward to your ride reports
when you get back
