I’ve been running one of these Gusset bachelor SS tensioners for a while now, its recently started to put the chain on weird angles under pedalling and therefore creating a knocking sound at every link.

By the looks of it under pedalling forces the chain moves to the left of the roller(from the back of the bike) but sits in-line when pedalled backwards. I have tried moving the cog slightly to the left thinking I may not have had a perfect chain line, but this didn’t solve it.

Any one got any ideas. Could the tensioner be twisted so the roller isn’t perfectly horizontal?
Should I get a new tensioner, a sprung this time maybe?

do what you want. Unless we can actually see it I fail to see how can we possibly have a better idea what’s wrong with it than you.
