Power went off at 9 yesterday, and not back yet. Luckily it is not that cold. Xmas lunch is steak so not an issue. And plenty of booze.

Might not be and consolation but there is a team of poor sods out there somewhere trying to get your power back on, some of whom may not be spending Christmas with their families if they don’t get you back on by then.

I didn’t realise just how bad it could be. I suppose he could have had a text dump on it too.

    surrey and kent they are

Kent and EC Fbu have agreed to a Major Incident recall of Fbu members due to the unique conditions resulting in a risk to life within the Medway and surrounding areas.
Fire-fighters are urged by the Fbu to continue to work into the agreed strike period, If you are OFF duty, this recall does not apply.

Ah sorry. Good for them then.

I take it they voided the strike to help out which is good of them? I mean that genuinely.

    Ooh you’ve edited.

    That’s great to hear bravo.

We had 48 hour power cut 2 weeks ago. Was fine with the stove inside but working on a future plan for the boiler …. Our boilers out side was stone cold by end of the power cut last time …. Risks freezing and splitting the water jacket – gonna get a genny or a some sort of battery pack on a solar trickle charge to run it in future its 5volts / **** all amps to run it.

Ukpn – UK Power Networks. The people who look after the cables and overhead lines between national grid and your house. Well, there’s several companies around the country. I think the question was are ukpn the people looking after Kent?

However, if storms are bad, you’ll find the other companies from around the country help out with extra bodies.

Yes it was them. Saw lots of vans out and about.
Even 24 hours made us realise how dependant we are to electricity.

Onzo dog is correct, we do. As others helped a couple of weeks ago, and we helped others the week before that.
