my pro2s annoy the f–k out of me I prefer the quieter XC hub. Kings are positively tedious, had a mate with some once and he was unanimously forced to ride at the back of the pack.

I've got a 72 point engagement Hadley and it's nearly silent compared to my Pro 3. I've not used one but I guess the 36 point Hadley would be more clicky.

    Pro 2s only make a noise when you're slacking…

Recently got some Hope hoops with Pro3 hubs & straight pull spokes – EH, WHAT'S THAT YOU SAY! They seem even louder than the old Pro2's on the wifes bike – the straight pull spokes seem to resonate and amplify the noise. Certainly don't need a bell with 'em!

    Crikey they're loud indoors!!!

My industry Nine rear is not that loud at all. Just a really nice buzz.

Hope Pro IIs make a hideous noise imo. Far too loud and for no real reason. Definitely seems to be a Marmite thing though as some people like it others hate it.

you can quiten a ProII by putting thicker grease in the freehub round the pawls if it begins to annoy you, which it will

Hmmm have both proII and CK single speed wheelsets. Would say they are about the same 'volume' tbh just a slightly different buzz.

I like it loud, it broadcasts my presence when I come up behind dogs/walkers/slow bikers…. you don't need a bell!

Pro II if for no other reason to annoy the person infront of you by letting them know that you are behind them and this bit is easy when they are puffing

Why anyone would like cycling but dislike one of the great features of a bicycle (virtually silent) is beyond me. When you take your bike into the countryside it becomes even more of a benefit for it to be quiet, at least it does for me.

I test rode a Marin once that had a Hope rear hub – hated the whole bike, mostly because I couldn't stand the racket.

I'm with glen, running silent is definitely best.

    @ glenp & headfirst

I run silent hubs on all my bikes and appreciate the silence like you both do but just fancy something different of a SS build, saves me having a bell too 😆

Cheers for the suggestions chaps, I'll keep an eye out in the sales for a Pro II

Merry Christmas All & thank you again.
