Just finished building up a Pompino singlespeed.

What i need to know is are you guys running tugs on hoziontal dropouts or do you just tighten the bolts real tight??

Currently i have no confidence in it staying put i.e. i’m worrried it’ll send my knee into the stem if i put any force through it.

    Thanks.

Surley tug nut is what you want. Don’t know if it is entirely necessary but it’s shiny and has a bottle opener 🙂 Seriously though probably best to fit at least one on the drive side.

i cant see how a stem-knee interface error would occur from wheel slippage.

Everyone i know runs one on the drive side. I use the on one chain tug which was a fiver and works okay.

I’ve had a wheel slip and suicide itself into the chainstay,- it wasn’t very nice, so I use a tug for ‘peace of mind’. Cheap, small, does the job … (etc) 😉

Can’t see the wheel slipping suddenly and it happening but maybe if the wheel slips enough for the chain to get slack and slip off then maybe it could happen. More likely from a chain breaking.
