OK, I realise that this really sets me out as a geek but I just noticed that the X-wings aren’t X-wings. Or at least they’re different to the ones we’ve known – offset wings for a start…

Except, they’re kinda not. They’re much closer the original concept art than they were in the classic trilogy.

The countdown begins, nerds everywhere have 1 year to prepare themselves to be apocalypically offended by the whole thing, no matter how good it turns out to be.

Very obviously Abrams style visually (I actually really liked all the lens flare and wobbly,jerky CGI stuff in ST).

Was never going to happen, but would have loved to see Abrams directing a Whedon script for the new films.

I enjoyed the Abrams Star Treks. A friend who is a big fan of Star Trek enjoyed them on one level but felt they were too beholden to spectacle and lacked some cerebral element he expects from Star Trek. Too much lens flare and explosions and too little exploring strange new worlds and civilisations, for him.
