  • New Shimano XTR/XT/SLX brakes – replacement pads?

    I’m looking for a new set of brakes, probably the new SLX options.

    I’ve noticed they all come with the silly ‘cooling fins’ which will be fairly pointless, however my concern moving forward is can you use a set of normal pads in these calipers?

    I can’t seem to find any replacements, other than the XTR options at a stupid price.

    Superstar do the new XTR’s without cooling fins and fit/work great.

    Yep, I’m using the Superstar pads in my XTR brakes and they’re fine.

    Does anyone happen to know if the pads are the same size now?

    The bike radar review said the pads were available with and without the cooling fins and that the cooling fin pads were quite expensive.
