what gearing? i’ve just built one up and not sure what to do right now.. i have 36:18 which i find just about bearable on the flat (i.e. i’d prefer to move faster but it’ll do!) but is hard work on the steeper stuff.. but i’m not sure i could deal with the spinning required if i go any lower.

haven’t really tried it on a proper ride out yet though.. but dicking around central edinburgh’s various small lumps has been excellent!

    32:18 coz that’s what i had on a full 29er

but the rear wheel is a 26er isn’t it? why not 32:16? Always liked the look of those.

so *consults* that would be the same as 36:20, 2 extra teeth, quite a difference!

i suppose i just have to experiment.

    why not 32:16?

coz 32:18 is all i got and i’m old, fat and slow anyway

The DUC fork would make it look like i was trying too hard 🙂

Needs a rigid fork to tick another niche off.
Then drop bars, & a fixed cog.

fixed is a niche too far
