The monarch 3.1 on my Boardman has a leak so I am looking for a new shock, but simply put I have no idea what I am looking at or for.
Mine is a HV with a B tune, but now RS use different terminology with mid rebound and mid compression, and I don’t really know if the HV bit is very important. If I wanted to get a fox what should I be looking for? I have emailed tried to ask Boardman but customer services is through Halfords and they haven’t replied and there is no info on the Boardman website

My bike is a 2011-2013 Boardman team fs with 130mm travel from a 190×50 shock.

Any advice (particularly in relation to getting a new shock) would be greatly appreciated

HV, is high volume, most shocks (especially) fox now tend to be high volume nowdays, to the point where you get ‘rings’ to put inside the shocks to reduce the volume to self-tune it. HV vs LV is due to spring rate IIRC, but basically if your bike came with one, your probably best buying another the same.
I know there a bargains to be had on the internet/ebay, but getting your shock from a suspension specialist, they will/should give it the right tune for your bike before it is sent out… saving you money having the 2nd hand/cheap bargain tuned (& serviced.. which is why most shocks are on ebay) later.
Loco, TF-Tunes, or J-tech (& others) will all be able to help..

DB inline from TFtuned would be my choice

Get it repaired serviced at TF Tuned, top guys. Certainly cheaper than a new one

As every body said get it serviced.
If you get a second hand one I would want it serviced so you know it’s right.
If you are going to replace it I would look on chain reaction they have some good deals on shocks.

I did speak to my local suspension servicer who said parts would be difficult to source as it was a common problem and an older shock Tf tuned look like they might have some monarchs that like they would do. Will give them a call tomorrow. Thanks all
