recently found “Metric” putting random artists from my collection into Music Roamer.
    http://www.musicroamer.com/

Great electro-pop-rock and this siren-voiced beauty at the mic:

Check out “Help I’m Alive” and “Sick Muse” on Spotify or http://www.myspace.com/metric

On the back of Music Roamer and Spotify Ive recently bought over half a dozen new albums. Who says “free” music will kill the radio star? This new way of listening opens up so much more music that I wouldn’t have heard otherwise. Oh yes, it takes the power away from the big labels…shame 🙂

What have you found recently? (dont forget to give genre and links)

I’ve been getting really into this band lately – found through some illegal means but then bought their stuff too.

Kind of weird folky/classical type stuff, mostly instrumental. Some of it is really beautiful imo.

Thats bland indy pop, the only redeeming feature is that she is relatively tidy for lead singer of such a band. The last good album released was Rage against the machine in 1992

I don’t need to…all the cool bands come to me to see if I like them. If I don’t, they go down to Clifton Suspension Bridge and chuck themselves off.

If I do, you’ll be hearing of them a few months later. 😆

Nah, seriously though, I need to get into this Spotify/Music Roamer thing. Just never seem to get round to it. I’ll give those bands a listen though.

EDIT: I do listen to 6music a lot during the day though, so as not to feel totally out there in the wilderness.

6Music introduced me to much outstanding music when I could listen to it during the day, before that **** George Lamb came onboard. I first heard Metric on there in ’06, and they sent me a copy of ‘Live It Out’ in a phone-in before it was released in the UK. Love this band to bits, and to describe them as just Indy mush, shows a remarkable level of ignorance. Live, they are outstanding, I’ve seen them twice now, in small 400 capacity venues in Bristol, and Emily absolutely kicks ass, she is a fantastic performer. If you like Metric, then there are a whole bunch of Canadian bands that you ought to check out, like The Stills, Wolf Parade, The Dears, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Black Mountain, Arcade Fire (obviously), and The New Pornographers. From just over the border there’s Death Cab For Cutie as well. Oh, and I can assure you that Emily is very fit indeed, having been stood six inches away from her delightfully sweaty body!

Best things in my new car – DAB for 6music and a USB port for all my tunes.
6music is really good for new tunes.

what is the deal with george lamb? a lot of people seem to dislike him. I can’t say I like/dislike him, he doesn’t seem any better or worse than the rest of the presenters on 6 music. The only show I listen to for the presenters is the adam and joe show (now that stephen merchant has moved on).

Indeed! Well worth a listen. But your point about Canadian bands is true. Lots of good stuff coming out of there at the mo.

Love him/Hate him kind of guy. Personally, I think he’s great – usually prefer to listen to him when I’m working with someone else. Doesn’t seem so funny when I’m on my own.
