im after a new crank for the bike, i run 1×10 setup and i was wondering if it will matter if i get a 9speed crank (cheaper then 10 speed) and put my own front ring on the crank which is set up for 10 speed, will it work as a 10speed rather than a 9speed then?

i thought it would be fine but just wanted the thoughts of others when the cranks im lookin at vary from £300- £400
