    New house has a built in oven and hob – sadly both seem suffering from electronic gremlins in their old age. So replacements required earlier than planned. We’re not re-doing the whole kitchen yet so needs to be:

    Freestanding, and;
    All electric (we’re not on gas in the sticks);
    A range cooker (ideally);
    Stainless steel shinyness;

    Any STWers have similar and can recommend good value brands and / or models? Thanks

    Bosh .

    just had a double oven fitted and it is really good .

    If you are rich , Rational are the best , but you ll need 3 phase electric .

    Thanks for the suggestions.

    I like cooking on gas but wouldn’t a bottled supply be a bit of a pain the @rse?

    Rational may well be out then…. will take a look at Bosch.

    Bottled gas is not as bad as you might think. It is quite common in France, especially in the villages where ther is no mains gas, and the bottles are readily available.

    I’m not sure about the situation in the uk.

    We have two bottles in the cellar with the pipe coming up through the floor to the cooker above.

    You need to swap the jets out for some specific to either propane or butane. Fisher & Paykel supplied these as a kit.

    We prefer gas hobs but electric ovens, so this was our only option, and it works well.
