Hi folks, I have to downgrade due to money woes…

Anyway I have £600 – 700 to spend on a new steed and have seen a couple of bikes that show promise.

The choices are a 2009 GT Avalanche Expert, 2009 Orange G3 or a 2009 Giant XTC 2…I'm looking for a good all round trail ride and possible XC bike, so reasonably light (im used to a 31lb bike so it does not have to be that light!!) and as much bang for my buck as I can get spec wise.

What do you guys think? Is there any other deals out there at the moment? Which one would you go for, or do any of you own or have owned any of the bikes i've mentioned? All help appreciated.

Does it have to be new?

456 frame and a load of second hand parts. Thats what I did and I still have quite a good bike and my budget was a lot lower than yours.

Whip off the fork, sell it, put that with the money left over out of your 700 budget, to get a better fork?
