Are they all much of a muchness or is there anything worth paying extra for?

Also how do you measure to fit the new chain – I have a Spec Pitch. Is it big front to big rear and add two links?

    Cheers

Thanks for the advice – what do you mean longest chainstay length?

CRC have the SRAM PC991 for £18.96 at the moment, thats £5 cheaper than the ‘lower spec’ PC971!

    951 for £10

Cant see the point of more expensive chains or better than deore cassettes they all last the same amount of time. Sometimes the cheaper stuff lasts longer.

KMC X9-93 is excellent, tough as old boots, lasts for ages and cheap. Does corrode more than some chains if you neglect it, so, don’t.

Yup, big ring at the front, biggest cog at the back, and add two whole links whilst NOT through the rear mech. Bear in mind that a link is made up of two sections really.

I think Al is referring to chainstays effectively getting longer on some full-sus bikes depending on which point in the travel you are.
