Is there a decent forum or website that has info on batteries?

I want to convert my knackered 18v Dewalt power batteries to lithium. I've got 3 that will no longer charge. I know I could replace individual cells, but could make a far better pack for not a whole lot more and a huge amount less than new Dewalt ones.

I'm thinking of buying 18650 cells off ebay, red surefire ones. Intending on 2 x 5 cells in series in each pack. The idea being the load from each cell will be much less and the pack capacity will be a realistic 4ah using 2500mah ish cells.

    Anybody done this?

I already have a multi chem Dewalt charger that does lithium too.

Maybe Smudge will be along to help .

    Was hoping so:)

I was only thinking off protected 18650's anyway. I think they'd get killed pretty quick otherwise in my circular saw

I'm fairly sure they have a thermistor in there too. They won't charge when hot
