My wife bought me a bike for Christmas…. Its an early 1900's Hurcules from what I can tell. Do you think I should try and renovate as a pub bike or hang on the wall in the office/garage to admire? Also anyone know a good contact to find out which model it is?


The chain is completely encased with what looks like 3 speed SA gears.

Good hard pull, pop pads past the rim and lock against the tyre, unable to move them, excellent!

CFH will tell you. Lovely bike nonetheless.

Its not as old as you think….no oil lamps!
If its got a hub gear, check the date stamp on the hub casing.

don't ruin the patina, just do the minimum of clean-up and it's a class pub bike.
stuff like that is lovely to ride, just don't expect high speed performance, it's a stately comfortable trundle.

someone slung a couple of bikes like this in to my dad's skip. very exciting. also someone deffed off a 70s 5 speed racer with wingnut quick releases…

After riding to the pub and back a few time's on that you'll have leg's of iron!
