I've had mine for the best part of a year now, it's just a bit of a spur to get me moving, I usually clock around 11 or 12 thousand steps a day.
The first segment of the red bar tells you you've been idle for an hour, the next four segments are 1/4 hour each, you need to do 200 steps to clear it all.

It is a Vivofit 2.
So far its told me I've walked 2k around the house connect to my HRM, and no amount of getting up and making coffee is reducing the red bar at all. It'll be interesting to see my sleep activity tomorrow - I think anyway.
