Not really. There was a huge amount of support in the UK for the Germans in 1913-14, something which has been airbrushed out of the history lessons ever since. And not too surprising considering the links between the countries – not least in the royals – and the fact that Britain had spent centuries fighting the French. There was even well documented support for the Nazis in the UK. But it’s convenient not to mention that too often.
