Just wanted to add to the condolences - I remember you posting that you'd got him just a couple of weeks ago, and he looked like a wee cracker in the photo.
Especially rotten time for it to happen as well

Gutted for you
Sorry to hear that. What an awful thing to happen to the poor mutt.
You do realise, coming from a rescue home, you gave him the best 13 days he's ever had. Thats a gift that cannot be taken back.
It was a natural death, probably not that stressful for the animal. TBH you can't ask for more if you were born a dog than to die having a great time in the arms of one that loves you.
Its fine to be sad, but not "regretful". Hope that makes sense.
Tough break - sorry for your loss
Give another mutt a chance I'm sure it will work out
Just horrible that he's probably just started enjoying life and......
crikey it's dusty in here.
Thanks all. He was brilliant and for a dog who could have had huge issues had none, apart from humping a stuffed Bagpuss.
Have avoided even looking in to this thread untill now .
Gutted for you after a brave rescue attempt .
v sad, chin up

Too true. So sad though. RIP Digit
Truly sad news there Kevonakona, chin up fella.
I to have avoided this up to now. Really sorry to hear what happened. All here are very sad when I told them. Try hard to remember the best bits, he looked great! We hope you can find a different little monster soon - not to replace him but to start a new friendship.
You did a great thing giving him a loving home. RIP Digit.
RIP Digit
+1, You did a wonderful thing giving him a loving home.
Very sorry to hear!
He looks a right troublesome bu66er.
sorry to hear your loss.
You did everything you could to try to save him. Sometimes no matter what you do it's not enough. Go out and get another, maybe one that's more at home with water breed wise if you live next to a river. Hindsight I know.
Really sad news.Leave it a while then give another one a good home .lots of selfish people dump dogs at Christmas there will be another looking for a loving home.
that's grim, I've had my rescue dog 4 weeks now and he's irreplaceable. the little shit.
Terrible news & I really feel for you....
But as others have said, getting another dog really is the best remedy for this.I never thought we could replace out last dog of 15 yrs but the family finally convinced me to get another one 2 years ago, after a 4 year gap.Although I'll never forget our last one, having one around again certainly makes it easier & I wish we'd done it years ago......
That's really sad, it is really hard when you loose your dog.
It sounds like you did everything you could, at least you were there for him over that short time you had him.
Bad Times
I am gutted for you for your loss, grief for the dog for few days and get yourself another one from the Dog's home again, there will be some more unwanted dogs after Xmas in the Dog's home.
Stay strong mate
Gutted for you mate, that's so sad.
There's another dog out there that needs you x
Sorry about your loss, sounds like he had some quality time with someone who really loved him.
Take care
So sorry to hear about your loss, so soon too, just as you got to know him. I hope christmas brings better luck for you.
So sorry to hear.
As above, go and give your second Digit the same chance in life.
THanks everyone. Feel sorry for the jogger who stopped just as i realised there was nothing more i could do. Finding a grown man, soaking wet, kneeling on a snowy path, crying onto a dog must be weird.
He died living life to the full IMO...
interesting conversation at the pound:
Could I have another please, erm my last one drowned' honestly!
really sorry to hear the news....i love dogs, dont have one but borrow plenty and think theyre fab..
a similar situation happened to one of my mates( a fireman) and he didnt hesitate going in after the dog....did cpr and mouth to mouth and the dog came too but died later in the vets..very sad!
sad stuff - as they ^ said, seems he went out having fun
Hmmm ways to get rid of Bingo....
very sad news
