Allman Brothers did an excellent version. Think it was on the Brothers and Sisters album.
Lou Rawls without a doubt song would appear to have been written for his voice, album of the same name also on a few colections of his.
Avoid the Sting version, although that may just have been a film.
OK, in the recent music thread, I learned that the Allman Brothers covered it live at the Filmore East. Linky anyone please?
I have two favourites, both live versions. First is Gary Moore with Albert King. Second is Van Morrison from the "A Night in San Francisco" album.
It's got to be the pipe-smoking "Velvet Bulldozer"
Thanks for the links FallOutBoy, am now listening to the RAH CD
The Allman Brothers Band
End of thread!
Albert King's version from Albert King:Live. Recorded at Fillmore West. Fantastic track, fantastic live album.
