    Alright Folks,

Off to Munich in a couple of weeks. Never been before and was wondering if the good people of STW could point me in the right direction of a couple of areas, bars, restaurants, *cough* strip bars *cough* ;), etc etc etc…..

    Ta!

Whether in the city for business or pleasure, I have to visit the Haxenbauer. Every time.

If you’re veggitablist, then you really are shit out of luck missing out on this place.

Well, the obvious is a trip to the Englischer Garten.

Oh, and go here http://www.apfelwein-wagner.com/en/der-wagner.html to drink Apfelwein (spl?) and eat lots of lovely food with green sauce.

as above….Englisch Garten, but be sure to avoid the “Egg Meadow” in the same park (lots of naked men running around)

    EAT RIBS!

The Rusticana. Amazing place for a steak and ribs. Not particularly German, although they sell German Beer. Don’t over order, the racks of ribs are enormous. Book in advance it’s very popular.

All ‘those’ sort of bars are just outside the Hauptbahnhof (Railway Station), got to say there’s not a great deal to ‘see’ compared to other German Cities it’s also a tad quiet and conservative. Some nice bars, (Harpers & Queens, if they let you in) the Nachtcafe, trying to remember the street name of this brilliant *italian restaurant, it’ll come to me in a moment.
Prinz Mishgin is a neat veggie place and there are a few decent Indians now in the road running parallel and to the North of the railway line into Hauptbahnhof.

    *Osteria La vecchia masseria Mathildenstrasse.

An off the wall thing to go see (assuming it still happens as not been to Munich for a few years) is to go and see the surfing.
Southern end of the Engischer Garten, stand on the bridge on Von-der-Tann strasse. Cut & paste the google maps link below.

BMW:- Did the Welt. Which is free to get in. Did the plant tour (prebook the tour if your going)which was 11 euro’s and highly recommended even by the wife who isn’t really into cars we both found it really interesting,
We really enjoyed Munich. easy to get round and plenty of Beer. We used the train and the UBahn and it was really good and easy to get about. Get the day pass which covers you for the city zone including the airport.
We stayed in Motel One which was pretty cheap for City rooms rooms a tad on the small side but more than adequate for a few days clean and as much breakfast as you can eat.

I think you’ll find it’s the 2nd best beer in the world. The Augustineer Edelstoff being the best!
