Did the last round of the Thetford Winter Series today, at Tunstall Forest. Wow! What a mudfest!

How often do you do an event where there's a sign up on the course saying "Caution – Deep Water" ?

Sliding around everywhere. Gloop galore! Even the gentlest descent turned into a testing, sliding, slithering, challenge. As for the ascents. Ride up? Fuggedaboudit.

Just a hundred yards from the end, I passed some poor chap who had just stopped, clearly too exhausted to go on!

Did the 4 hour, but it was cut back to 2 1/2 hour. Can't say I was sorry to finish.

Top race as normal although a little different with all the mud, worse than D2D 08!!

I singlespeeded too, but bailed after a lap. Soaked, miserable, and no brakes left. Funny how looking back on it now it was good fun – first time I've ridden axles deep through mud.
