Is it me or is there no mountain biking on tv? I’m a sports fan and watch most sports but as I’ve just taken up mountain biking I was wondering why there is none on tv. I would have thought it would be a popular thing.

Only time I have seen it on tv was when the Olympics were on.

It is a shame but the truth is that it makes quite dull telly 😯

The Olympics coverage was about the best XC mountain bike coverage I’ve seen but still not exciting enough to get regular coverage 🙄

Yeh that’s all I’ve seen, thought they would have downhill champs on tv

There’s been coverage of the World Cups on Eurosport this year.

“Drop in tv” used to be on the extreme channel, if you go on to the UCI website there should be a link to various coverage of downhill and xc events

Quite a bit on various webcasters but you’ll be very lucky to spot any on ‘proper’ telly.
XC and Enduros do make rubbish TV, DH and 4X less so.

    4x is excellent tv

4x is generally dull too imo. Action to the first corner then often just a procession

DH is too niche to interest the likes of the BBC

mtb of all disciplines makes crap tv,

DH can work very well on TV, as can freeride comps like the Rampage. It just needs the right placement of cameras and a director who knows what he is doing.

I’ve enjoyed the World Cups and World Champs on the internet feeds this year, would like to see it on TV too.

It is utterly boring to watch though…4x is exciting but not enough…dh, far to boring on the single person runs but as a whole less boring than xc…

Personally, i wouldnt watch it if it was on…

had this argument before but DH is boring to watch nothing to do with cameras, everything to do with not enough speed, nothing happening, no obvious competition.

Memo, do you like mtb? You must be watching very different dh races to the ones I’ve been over the last few years!!

but DH is boring to watch

In your opinion. I’ve enjoyed the coverage on the internet feeds.

adventure show regularly has it on, just a shame the series is quite short

On board cams front and rear and live position tracking would make any discipline of cycling exciting to watch.

Plenty of it on my new TV
It has RedBull TV app built in 🙂

Agree wi Jag, it doesn’t make the best tv, well not the XC and even DH stuff.

My non biking partner found the 4x fascinating. Shame the uci dropped it.

Yep, as above Adventure Show has had some really good coverage- lots of time spent on the world cup. And their annual trip to the Puffer is ace.

    Bowls anyone??
    Downhill skiing??
    Golf??
    Rain interrupted cricket??
    Darts??
    Snooker??
Surely if packaged correctly, MTB’ing is more interesting than this lot??

Am I the only one who actually likes watching XC (and even enduros) on TV?

It was an (obviously edited, but exciting) enduro on a 24-hour sports channel in Canada that got me back into riding about ten years ago.

I’ll watch the xc if I get the chance/time. I think the main thing that would improve xc and dh visually is more cameras.
