Hi, just trying to get some info on mountain biking in the Pyrenees…….Staying with some friends in the Pyrenees at the moment just near a ski area called La Mongie / Le Grand Tourmalet, that is on the start of the Col du Tourmalet stage of the Tour de France. They are running a ski chalet / gite with a good market for road biking in the summer….especially for TDF week.

Does anyone know anything about mountain biking here??? They are’nt mtb’ers themseleves but do know there is some here and I was interested to see if there was much of a potential (or established) British market for MTB’ers here???

Anyone been?? Have routes?? any info would be much appreciated.

There used to be some great riding in Cauterets but they stopped letting bikes on the lifts which put us off. Not sure if that is still the case. You aren’t far from Luchon which is the main location for MTB in the French Pyrenees. You really need some right on the doorstep and a good uplift, do the lifts run in the summer? Do they allow bikes? If not I doubt it’ll ever be that popular with mountain bikers.
