Spitfire4 is different to a MKIV (its like the mk1 the "4" stands for four cylinder)
I had a 1500 (MKIV shape) for a bit, a friend bought it off me and managed to turn it over and slide it upside down along the A30 he escaped without a scratch, god knows how even the steering wheel was bent over at the top! His passenger to this day has a scar on his forehead he says he scuffed his head momentarily because his hands were getting really hot against the vinyl of the roof sliding along the road and he let go!

Got ya, that'll learn me for working and trying to play at the same time. Best leave the multi tasking to the girlies...

Not posting this as a contender, just showing you what I had. In this colour as well. Cosmetically the only difference between this and the MK3 was that the bumper was lower, and not legal in the US, IIRC.Posted 9 months ago # -
Thats the one oldgit, my MK1 GT6 bonnet was like that but with a big-ass bulge instead of the stamped in stripe - very nice.

#Herald based Triumph pedant mode on# The MK3 grille was one piece and didn't have the spar up the middle, and the last MK3's had neater rear lights with a reversing light in the middle instead of the two seperate ones by the indicators
#Herald based Triumph pedant mode off#
I've toyed with turning mine in to a works Macau copy like this

Very nice!Posted 9 months ago # -
JAG has it-just like the LP 400 there's purity about the unadorned Stratos that few other designs have achieved.

There are some beautiful cars on this thread. And a Toyota Celica!
For me the Citreon DS is hard to beat.

Xk102 drop head coupe if I was being sensible or the Bug Atlantic if I won the Euromillions.
Is it ralph lauren that owns that Bug?Posted 9 months ago # -
Not telling you what this is, may drive up the market price if you all want one, then I'll never afford it.

(You'll probably be able to left click or something to find out. Anyhow, point is the most beautiful cars in this world are sometimes massed produced, but are more often one-off coachbuilt cars for the stinking rich. I'm calling most of the above cars common chod
)Surely Horsey Horseless wins anyhow?
Posted 9 months ago # -
One-off coachbuilt you say?

DB5 Estate (sorry...Shooting Brake
)
Nice, like James Bond's car but room for bikes and kit in the back
(OK there was more than one but it was coachbuilt and there wasn't many of them)Posted 9 months ago # -
if you're talking coach built Astons

Beautiful, I am downloading that pic to my phone klunk to show every Orange5 owner I meet. Function before form...pah!

That GT40 in blue and orange. My dad's mate is an accomplished car sprayer and among the cars he has painted, he's done a GT40 in the same colour scheme. I need to get him to paint my bike

Or buy a 456 in "that" (AKA Ford Monza) Blue and just get him to do an orange stripe on it

I tend to choose the more 'affordable' and more practical classics:

Still beautiful (to me, anyway!)Posted 9 months ago # -
Genius billyboulders. Would be slightly more expensive though

Without a doubt it has to be the split screen vw camper!
I would post a pic but I can't copy/paste links from this generic tablet device :/

For Rusty Spanner - a 406 Zagato to go with the 95 GT I posted on page 1...
Posted 9 months ago # -
Another beautiful classic IMHO!

Always loved the simplicity of these too.

Nobby

As also driven by James Bond (see Dr. No)Devoran53- Citroen DS "affordable" ? can I have your job

Facel Vega HK500, always reminds me of a Rover P5 (which I also love) on steroids
How surprised was I to see one of these in less than pristine condition (daily driver) parked in Bridlington one day in the 1990s.
The rear view: (this is not the Bridlington one!)
Notice the unusual rear lights.Posted 9 months ago # -
Waderider, what is it? it looks Zagato bodied.
Posted 9 months ago # -
that HK500 image appeared in the preview:

Rusty Spanner
It's Citroen and Bristol for me.Ooh, now there's a man with taste.
Saab 96 also sits high up my list.

Currently only just resisting temptation on the DS front. I love them and I'm highly tempted!
Posted 9 months ago # -
The HK pic problem was just my computer being slow!
What is the cheapest a decent DS can be had for then? I want an estate version or an old CX!
Posted 9 months ago # -
Affordable classic, had a couple of them over the years - brilliant fun!

Some lovely old cars here, I have a particular thing for the CitrĂ´en DS, really lovely design.
