You’re seriously planning to camp under a tarp in Scotland or northern Britain in late summer with only a midge net?
You can take minimalism too far! How do you plan to evict the thousands of midges who will make it through your defences? If you’re determined, my best advice is to take some mosquito coils and burn a couple constantly around the camp so as to throw the midges off your scent, they do work and the smoke does kill midges but if you burn them inside a closed tent the smoke will give you bronchitis. Also take a repellent with DEET and possibly a small can of insecticide. I write this after a lifetime of climbing and camping holidays abandoned when days and days of relentless midge attacks have got the better of us.
