Cool. Going to have to change your name though as it appears to be geared….

Like the Thudbuster, was the paint job done specifically to match the elastomers!

Right. Just shortened the rear hose. Just the other couple of bits to do now….

    Ton the fork’s a Dirt Jump 1.
    takisawa. No it’s not. I just tried…. 😥 😉

Oh and the gears will be coming off. Well at least for one event this year. 😉

    Looking good SSS.

Wheelies are virtually impossible – but they can be bunnyhopped which is rather amusing.

As for speed – we have had nearly 60mph out of ours on road and 45+ offroad. More adrenaline than 120mph on a motorbike.

That looks like a right laff 😆

I assume your next thread will be “What Bike Rack for a Tandem” 😆

TJ for who? 60/45mph on/off road for the stoker must be scary…

For both of us tinsy! SWMBO on the back has also done many tens of thousands of miles as pillion on my motorbikes.

Well we’ve just got back from our first ride and what can I say but how much fun was that!

Everything that I was worried about didn’t seem half as bad once we got going. 😀

Only had one near off experience when we got a bit cross rutted on a muddy descent, but just about saved it at the last second.

A couple of drivetrain issues to sort out and we’ll be out again tomorrow for some more. 😀

    No Bell ?

    Tyres / Logos !

No mud guard for the stoker/SHMBO ? but you’re OK I see

apart from that it looks fantastic & I can’t wait until you post a pic of that big bike hanging from a tree 😉

    Amanda hates mudguards……

‘sgot a new front tyre on now and the rear’s been lined up with the valve after puncturing today.

I’ll take the camera out tomorrow and try and find a strong enough tree to hang it off. 😉

random thought – do tandems exist in a 29er, 96er or 69er format?

    I feel a potential new niche…

MTBtandems in the states are moving to 29er tandems now you can get strong enough 29er wheels

Someone recommended a anthrax weedkiller to me. 12months later and theres still no weeds, grass, plants, anything where I carefully applied it. Its a powder/big tub of sachets that you mix and use a water can from B&Q

Sheldon you’re just grumpy cause you’ve had to do some work for once in your life. 😛

    hora.

That’s the kind of coments I was aiming for. 😯

    billybob.

I’ve had my eye on this singlespeed 29er tandem.

How do you transport them? In a normal sized car is it easy? Where do you get them (not seen any in my LBS) and how much did it cost?

Jonb – starting point on price for a MTB tandem is around £1000 up to £10000

Specialist shops – JDcycles in Ilkley or SJS down south. Transport is a pain – on the roof of a car or in a van

SSS, glad you both had a good first outing. I remember ours, in Clumber Park, Notts. We were so stoked just to navigate it through a 4ft gap between two logs that when we got back to the carpark we forgot ‘dismounting ettiquete’ and both toppled over in a big heap of legs, arms and bike. Couldn’t stop giggling for ages, think all the onlookers were going to call the men in white coats to come and take us away!
    Happy tandeming.
